Commissioner Steven S. Streger
Commissioner and Senior Research Attorney
On September 1, 2023, Steven S. Streger, was appointed by the judges of this court to serve as Superior Court Commissioner. A Superior Court Commissioner is a subordinate judicial officer empowered by the California Constitution to handle a wide variety of case types. He is currently assigned to handle probate, family, and some civil matters. He also serves as this court’s only legal research attorney, a position has held since October of 2021.
Commissioner Streger originally hails from Southern California. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of California (1992), and a Juris Doctorate (summa cum laude) from McGeorge School of Law (1995). He was in private practice for 16 years, specializing in different aspects of civil litigation. In 2011, he moved over to government work as a Superior Court legal research attorney, where he has remained for the past 13 years. He has also served as a settlement conference and temporary (pro tem) judge since 2001, hearing a wide variety of calendars and cases.
Commissioner Streger is married with children, and dogs. He has held certifications in emergency medicine, sailing, self-defense, advanced life-saving, and marksmanship. In his spare time, he enjoys soccer, piano, photography, and road trips to Southern California to visit family and his beloved beaches.
