COURTHOUSE ACCESSIBILITY

Departments 3 and 4 are located in the Branch Courthouse located at 60 North Washington Street, Sonora, CA.  This Courthouse is wheelchair accessible.    Departments 1, 2 and 5 are located in the Historic Courthouse located at 41 West Yaney Avenue, Sonora, CA.    Department 2 is located on the ground floor, and is wheelchair accessible.    Department 1 is located on the third floor, and Department 5 is located on the second floor.  Since this is a historic building, MOBILITY PROBLEMS ARE ESSENTIAL TO CONSIDER SINCE THERE IS NO ELEVATOR, and therefore Departments 1 and 5 are not wheelchair accessible.  If your hearing is scheduled to take place in one of these Departments, please contact the Court at (209) 533-5505 for information on how to arrange your matter to be heard on the ground floor.  Also, an Audio/Video feed from Department 1 is available on the ground floor in the Office of the Superior Court Clerk, Appeals and ADA Assistance.   A handicap only parking space is located behind the Historic Courthouse on Norlin Street.    If you have business at the Courthouse and require assistance because of a disability, please call the Court at (209) 533-5505.  The Court requires notification in advance in order to provide certain accommodations.                                                                         INTERPRETERS   If you require a sign language interpreter, or a foreign language interpreter, please call the Court at (209) 533-5563.      NOTE:  We recommend that you contact the Court as soon as possible to ensure the availability of the accommodation you are requesting at the time of your hearing.
